Downstairs Accomodation
The 3 downstairs bedroom suites are accessed by a wide corridor (complete with original oak beams, of course!) and a selection of our specially-commissioned artwork. At the end of the corridor you can see the Red Suite - possibly the most luxurious suite in the barn. The beams in the ceiling are original, dating back beyond 1850. They were apparently reclaimed even then, and may actually be many hundreds of years old. Oak, of course, turns as hard as iron as it ages, and is incredibly resistant to damage, a reason the old French barn builders loved it so much.

Junior Suite
The Junior Suite is on the first floor and features White Company beds big enough for adults, but superb fun for children!. This is a large suite, with a full height window (with safety balcony, naturally) looking out over the terrace and the rolling hills of the Morvan. the Junior Suite also features a full size contemporary bathroom with high-quality fittings and hand-painted blue panelling.

Looking Up From The Lounge
A 'Cathedral Space' (as our architect describes it!) is essential in the Morvan in the Summer - without one, you might find the 40 plus temperatures a trifle overwhelming. Rare in the Morvan, the locals regard a cathedral space as a pure 'extravagance', and mumble about the cost of heating an 8 metre high space in the winter. Modern insulation techniques, however, have rendered these ideas out of date, and if your gite DOESN'T have one, you need to ask why.
The first floor mezzanine is one of 3 dedicated entertaining spaces in High Grange. There's ample seating, enormous flat screen TV, a contemtporary fire in case you fancy staying up into the wee small hours, and a full size table football setup (ubiquitous in France's bars!).
The array of velux windows not only flood the barn with light during the day, but enable you to see the moon and stars at night (the Morvan sky at night is frankly incredible - the lack of light pollution means you can see tens of thousands of stars most nights, and even the Milky Way on a cloudless night! When the moon is full, it's actually possible to read by it's light!).

Pallier
The 'Pallier' (or 'Landing' as Brits might call it!) is a very pleasant spot to sit and have a coffee, read a book, or just idle the day away watching what's happening down below. The hand made chairs were created by the barn's owners (as were many other items in High Grange) and the coffee table is made from reclaimed English railway sleepers.

Ground Floor Lounge At Christmas
The architect who designed High Grange gave great consideration to energy efficiency, and all those modern practises that make life easy. Not only is the barn cool and pleasant in the hot Morvan summer, but it's toasty-warm in the winter too.
This photo shows the rear wall of the lounge, with bespoke artwork and a carefully chosen selection of sofas, seats and other items you'd expect to find in a top-end boutique hotel, let alone a gite!

Ground Floor Lounge
The ground floor lounge again, showing the enormous scale of the property - this room alone is almost 500 square feet in size. To the right you can see the stairs leading up to the mezzanine, and the book collection (cookery books, travel, scifi, there's plenty here to keep most people busy).

Mezzanine at Christmas
The snows arrived this year in early December, and it truly is a winter wonderland out there. Christmas at High Grange is a magical time, and where better to relax and warm your toes than the first floor mezzanine. At Christmas, we arrange two trees for our guests, fully decked with traditional hand-made decorations - one on this mezzanine, and one downstairs in the main lounge. To the right you can see 'Boomer', our resident polar bear. He pretty much looks after himself at Christmas, although he does enjoy the company of children.

Snows Arrive In December
The Morvan tends to get snow in December and January, providing a perfect winter wonderland backdrop to your Xmas stay. On the left - a couple of the famous 'Charolais' white cows are either searching for the salt lick, or building a bovine snow man.

High Grange At Night
The barn is as pretty at night as it is during the day. The carefully chosen and positioned lighting highlights the wonderful stone work of this centuries-old barn, turning it into a work of art in its own right.
